Hello, my name is Marc Hanna and I develop and maintain this site. Here on this page, I'm providing a little personal history (and a dose of philosophy).

that's me

I've been in careers ranging from engineering, self-publishing, insurance, mortgages, management, product sales training, multi-level-marketing, cash flow services, and directing marketing operations. The common thread about all these jobs is that the part I enjoyed the most was teaching my associates and learning from them.

That's why I am providing you with real-life-distance-education.com (RLDE). I am truly passionate about learning and providing expertise about how people educate themselves for a job and career that is better suiting their real life situations. I am also very enthusiastic about the online learning experience and am currently immersed in an online doctoral program in general psychology.

I want every reader of this website to find their path to happiness through the most meaningful education and career path that suits their life destiny.

Educational Background

Through the years, I've obtained an electrical engineering degree from Cornell University, an MBA from Santa Clara University, various certifications in sales expertise, a certification to practice neuro-linguistic programming, a certification in cash flow management, held insurance licenses in several states and have been trained in a couple of multi-level marketing schemes.

The point is, it seems like I've tried it all, and obviously that's not true. But for decades I was not satisfied with my career and was looking for something better suiting my skills, abilities and temperament. In other words, better suiting me!

So What Did I Learn?

What I did learn is that every new career change comes with some sort of learning curve; always informal (on-the-job training); but often formally as well (requiring a license, certification or even a degree).

What I also found is that there are a lot of experts out there looking for people like me who want to enhance or change their careers. These experts at real estate, finance, cash flow, whatever -- wanted me to pay several hundred to several thousand dollars to learn their schtik. Whoa! What's real out there, and what's not?

The Real Solution

Finally, I decided that there are many schemes designed to attract people unhappy with their careers before they actually evaluate what it is they really want to do. I was a perfect victim of that approach because I wasn't taking the time to understand myself, my desires, dreams, and destiny in terms of my purpose in life. The point of this site is to help you avoid the pitfalls I succumbed to, and truly help you find your path to happiness in this life by working on what you were meant to work on here!

Why the Online Approach?

Once-upon-a-time I had a sales route that frequently took me from Raleigh, NC to Atlanta, GA. I could either take the 6-hour driving route or the 4-hour total airline route (including waiting time, security time, offloading time and getting/dropping off the rental car time). It never made sense to fly! I could carry a carload of stuff with me, stop off and see customers or clients on the way, not be concerned about air delays. Obviously, that option didn't work when working coast to coast, but I am setting up an analogy here.

Traditional classroom instruction is like that jet flight to Atlanta. You have to drive to school. You have to be on time. You have to wait for the class to end, and you have to make your way home. Online instruction is like taking the car. Your journey consists of a trip from the fridge to the computer screen. You get to class at your convenience and study at your whim. Class is as short or as long as you need.

And you always wind up at home. Yes, you still need to complete your assignments on time just like I had to make the appointments in Atlanta on-time. But how much more convenient is that?
